Buffalo Wings

Finally, found time to squeeze myself into the much awaited Pizza chain outlet in Nungambakkam, "Appa Johns" sorry "Papa Johns....Waiting for months after the Newspaper Advertisement "Papa John's" opening shortly" seemed like I waited for ages; I almost got wrinkles on my face..
And, finally there it is....Yippee! I yelled inside of me and zoomed through the so called posh area in Chennai...People's head turned towards me when I drove my White Honda Activa with a big Harley Davidson sticker on it... Now you know why people looked at me...I quickly spotted the venue not bcoz of the dull, poorly lit outlook of the restaurant, but bcoz of the people flocking in and out of the place with disappointed faces that weren't as cute as the smileys we use in our chats.. Seeing rows of Nilkamal chairs(some occupied, some not), for a second I thought to myself " Am I in front of a wedding hall???"I was wrong...No one would come dressed in shorts, have Mohawks and the women wearing spaghetti tops and kinky clothes to a wedding function, Right? These were a whole bunch of desperadoes who would never wait with their parents in the Vadapalani temple Queue to see Lord Muruga, but will wholeheartedly wait hours together to be served hot pizzas by the employee of the month "Murugan"... But yes, I accept the fact that I was one among these folks as I was so desperate enough that I could lay my hands on an elephant's serving of "Buffalo Wings" and gulp down the entire share in minutes...Yes I waited this long for Papa John's to open its outlet only to get myself to bite those red, saucy, succulent pieces of chicken wings.. Buffalo Wings(named after a place in NewYork; Buffalo; and as we all know, buffaloes don't have wings; the wings belong to the chicken)..Buffalo wings is the best in the Papa John's Menu Card...It is to be eaten with either Ranch Dip or Blue cheese Dip...mmmmmmmm...mouth watering, finger-licking good(oops wrong brand)..but still, trust me it cannot get yummier.... You must try it..And for that you need a Visa to the United States so that you could visit the Papa Johns pizza outlet and relish on every bite of this tasty dish... Can you imagine how much I freaked out when our very own Chennai Outlet did not have "Buffalo Wings" prepared in their kitchen??? I uttered all the bad words in all possible languages inside myself ...And to add fuel to the fire, the guy in charge informed me that it would take 45 mins to get a table for two, 1 hour to get myself a take away and delivery closed for the day...I wish he was like one of the policemen I could get away with by a simple trick of bribing...I chose neither of the options as I did not have a kerchief to catch hold of a plastic chair nor did I have the heart to keep my grumbling and rumbling stomach wait more patiently... I pushed myself out of the door having said a thousand "Excuse me s"...
A ruined Sunday! End of story...No..Wait..I did manage to grab a menu card (Yes, thats free of cost) and back at home ran through the list once again...Printed on the list, was "Chicken Wings"...Wonder if the dish is the same as my Buffalo Wings!!!I only hope it is..Can't wait to get there on another calm calender day (sans weekend) to feast on it...But the bottom line is; these international chains never stick to the same dishes through out the world bcoz of whatever reasons..Why is it that when I bite into a cooked chicken leg in Kentucky it tastes like heaven and when I bite into the same thing in Chennai it tastes like hell??? Why is it that when Donald the clown serves me a burger in the United states, it just melts in my mouth and I get the same smile on my face as he; but, if he serves the same burger in Chennai my smile turns upside down... Is anyone with me on this???
